George
Carl was probably one of the world's best clowns. His physical comedy
was truly amazing. Whenever someone asked Johnny Carson who his
favorite comedy act was, without hesitation he would answer: "George
Carl".
Norm
used to work with him at the Crazy Horse Saloon in Paris in the
1970s, and they became good friends. What amazed his fellow performers
was that every single time he walked on stage his demeanor was so
spontaneous that people always felt that he was performing for the
first time. This is remarkable because for many years he would perform
2 - 3 times per night seven days a week. The act was always fresh,
and Norm could watch it over and over again.
The
above poster is a tribute to this remarkable performer, and depicts
his accomplishments, like the Command Performance for the Queen
of England, his appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show, and in the movie
Funny Bones.
