John Daniel was just awarded the 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Academy of Magic Arts. He is well known in the magic community for his co-ownership of Owen's Magic, where he designed various illusions, including the Thin Sawing Model. In the 1950s he performed spook shows as "Dr. Doom" and "Dr. Satan". He toured with his show, Shazzam, in the 1960s, and retired from the stage in 1970.
He is an expert on collectibles, mainly vintage electric trains, carousels and magic. For years he has been collecting and restoring these items.
