Channing Pollock
by Malcolm Farrer-Brown
Many experts in magic have concluded that Channing Pollock was one of the most influential magicians of the 20th century. His delivery, his class, his style, his magic have inspired many of the top acts in the business, like Lance Burton, James Dimmare, Norm Nielsen and others. Surprisingly, up to this date there is very little that has been written about Channing. Like his act, he remains aloof and mysterious.
In the year 2000, Malcolm Farrer-Brown decided to gather all the scattered material on Channing Pollock, and wrote a thesis as part of his requirement for admission into London's Magic Circle.
Malcolm was not only admitted into the Magic Circle, but has provided us with an invaluable source of information one of the greatest magic acts of all time. This 94 page thesis, includes a full biography of Channing during all stages of his life - magic, acting and retirement. A description of his act, extracts of interviews with Channing, a list of awards, a chronology of his life, etc.
This book is beautifully designed and illustrated as well. To our understanding, only 200 were printed, most of them have been sold. We have the last 20 books. Once those are gone, this book will not longer be available.
Because of the small run, the book is expensive: $75 plus shipping and handling. It is worth it though, as it is currently the only book available on this performer.
(Note:
Due to increased postal rates and the weight of this book, international
shipping and handling will be charged according to US Post Office
rates. See: www.usps.com for details on international rates.)
