Historias
de Magas Antiguas y Modernas
by Gema Navarro
This
is an interesting little book on the general history of women in
magic. It starts by analysing why there are so few female magicians,
it provides a historical timetable of their significance in the
world of magic, and then highlights the story of early magiciennes
during the 17th and 18th centuries like Mademoiselle Regnault and
Mary Tofts. Towards the end, there is a photographic listing of
many of the contemporary women in magic.
This
seems to be the first of what seems to be other future booklets
on this subject.
This
book is only available in SPANISH and it is the first publication
on this vast subject.
The
author is Gema Navarro - wife of Spanish magician Juan Tamariz.
