Herrman
the Magician
(Reprint)
by H.J. Burlingame
The
good folks at Magico, have reprinted this classic magic book, written
over 100 years ago. The additions are an introduction by Barrie
Richardson, and a Bibliographic Study by Byron Walker. The original
text was reset in Times New Roman for this edition, and spelling
and grammatical errors have been corrected for clarity.
The
content of this book is exceptional, and every serious student of
magic should read it. It is divided in three parts:
-
Part
1: Psychology of the Art of Conjuring – by Dr. Max Dessoir
and H.J. Burlingame
-
Part
2: Biographies of both Carl and Alexander Herrmann – It
is refreshing to read about magicians who were successful in
their careers.
-
Part
3: Herrmann’s Secrets – Dozens of effects with explanations
that existed in the repertoire of both conjurers. This is a
great compilation of the material that was performed during
the late 19th century.
Purchasing
an original copy of this Burlingame book might cost hundreds of
dollars. This reprint is beautifully produced and it is a bargain.
